Unibar Offers Linux Enterprise Server Support for BARCODE 2000

1 January 1970

Unibar today announced that BARCODE 2000(TM) Version 7.0, Unibar's professional barcode labeling software, now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux, the recent Linux offering which supports a variety of servers for the corporate environment.

BARCODE 2000 Vs. 7 now supports:

-- Red Hat Application Server (AS), the top-of-the-line servers supported by Linux. typically used for Large databases, Enterprise applications and 24x7 mission critical environments.

-- Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES, used with small to mid-range servers. These servers are typically used in Edge-of-network applications or as small office or departmental servers.

-- SUSE(R) LINUX Enterprise Server 9 is now supported, which delivers a scalable, high performance foundation for secure enterprise computing, empowers businesses to leverage Linux and open source.

"We have supported Linux since it first appeared on the market, and it is a strong part of our business in the manufacturing and distribution arenas," said Rocky Krcatovich, Unibar Chief Technical Officer. "We know the Red Hat Linux EL offering will be equally important to our customers, and we're pleased to offer BARCODE 2000 with full support of the new Linux line."

More about BARCODE 2000

BARCODE 2000 7.0 high-performance, multi-platform labeling software provides immediate production labels. Data is piped directly from the application or files to create labels without program modification. Labels are designed using the Java 2 Label Designer with GUI user interface. Barcoded labels can be printed on most printers across the enterprise (on the network) without additional design work. BARCODE 2000 supports Zebra, Sato, Printronix, IBM, Intermec, Datamax, Monarch, Laser, and other popular printers.

BARCODE 2000 Vs 7.0 runs on Linux servers, requiring considerably less configuration and management than adding a dedicated print server for labeling. No software is required on the client PC. BARCODE 2000 supports 1D and 2D bar codes, including the AIAG Global Label and major retail compliance labels. RFID is supported in select Printronix printers with planned support for other RFID lines, including Zebra, Intermec and Datamax.
