The Apache Software Foundation Announces Call for Participation for ApacheCon US 2006

The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) todayannounced the Call for Participation for ApacheCon US 2006, its 9thofficial conference. Lauded among the leading success stories in the OpenSource community, the ASF stewards, incubates, and develops leading OpenSource projects, including Apache HTTP Server, the world's most popular Webserver software.


ApacheCon is the premiere developer event dedicated to showcasing keyApache technologies, drawing hundreds of participants to experience thefuture of Open Source development. The conference offers a uniqueopportunity to interact with internationally renowned contributors,influencers, and organizations in the Open Source community, and encouragesthe exchange of ideas amongst ASF members, innovators, developers, vendors,and users.


Addressing the hotly debated demand for, and the use of, non-proprietarytechnologies on a global scale, ApacheCon is an ideal forum for bothbeginners and experts alike. Attendees benefit from unparallelededucational opportunities with in-depth tutorials, hands-on sessions, and"first-looks" of new technologies presented by a roster of internationallyrecognized speakers and instructors. ApacheCon US 2006 will be held 9-13 October 2006 at the Hilton Hotel inAustin, Texas. Leading with tutorials on 9-10 October, the conference andexhibit floor open on 11-13 October.

Over the three main conference days, participants can choose from a widerange of beginner, intermediate and advanced sessions. ApacheCon boastsdozens of presentations that help attendees gain real-world insight andlearn firsthand the latest developments of leading-edge Open Sourcesoftware. The conference Program Committee is seeking both technical andbusiness-focused presentations on topics relevant to (but not limited to):


-- ASF projects such as Apache HTTP Server, Jakarta, Tomcat, Geronimo, XML, Cocoon, Databases, Web Services, Portals, Lenya, Struts, Forrest, MyFaces, and SpamAssassin-- How-to guides on installation, configuration, integration, migration, and use of Apache software and Open Source technologies-- Core basics to in-demand solutions such as Web services, LAMP stack evolution, and scalable Internet architectures-- AJAX, blogging solutions, caching, containers & component-based architectures, dynamic content management, contiguous integration, logging, REST, search engines, security, SOAP, WebDAV, and XSLT-- Web application development and design using scripting languages and technologies such as Java, PHP, Perl, Tcl, Python, and Ruby-- Advanced topics in security, performance tuning, load balancing and high availability-- Technical and non-technical case studies demonstrating successful use of Apache software-- General ASF and Open Source communities at-large-- Legal, business and marketing issues Proposals for sessions that help attendees learn Open Source bestpractices, develop implementations, mitigate new relationships, or delivervalue to their employers, clients, and community are especially welcome.
