JasperSoft Closes $8 Million Series-C Investment Round
1 January 1970JasperSoft Corporation, the leader in commercial open source reporting solutions, today announced that a leading group of venture capitalists led by Partech International, an early investor in Business Objects, has invested $8 million in the company in a series-C round. Doll Capital and Morgenthaler, series A and B investors in JasperSoft, also participated in the latest funding round.
JasperSoft develops JasperReports, the world's most popular open source reporting engine, downloaded on the Web more than 22,000 times a month and deployed at more than 10,000 companies in 50 countries worldwide. JasperSoft also makes JasperDecisions, a commercial reporting solution with advanced functionality designed to meet the operational reporting requirements of large corporations and give software companies to ability to embed robust reporting into their applications.
The new investment round will allow JasperSoft to continue investing in open source JasperReports and grow its installed base. It will also be used to provide customers with a simple migration path to meet higher-level reporting needs as they arise.
"Business intelligence, even though a mature technology, has still not penetrated the market place. JasperSoft, with its large base of loyal users, a vibrant development community and key market partners such as JBoss and MySQL is well-positioned to bring business intelligence to the next tier of users," said Philippe Cases, general partner at Partech International and newly-appointed director of JasperSoft.
The market for business intelligence tools is projected to exceed $4 billion in 2005, according to technology research firm IDC. Operational reporting is a fundamental part of this market and probably the fastest growing segment. Operational reporting allows end-users to place complex business data into charts, dashboards, and tables that can be easily understood for more effective decision-making. With JasperSoft's products, IT departments across all business segments can now provide reporting in real-time because open source provides the broadest deployability at the lowest TCO.
"We're pleased to have Partech International join with Doll and Morgenthaler to invest in the success of our commercial open source business model, which combines the best of open source software with commercial software," said Paul Doscher, CEO of JasperSoft. "Partech is one of the most experienced investors in the larger business intelligence market and has helped companies like Business Objects become market leaders."
