Ingres Attracts Additional Industry Veterans to Lead Global Sales and Support for Enterprise Customers

1 January 1970

Ingres Corp., the leading business open source database company, today announced that two former senior executives from VERITAS Software have joined the company's executive management team to address the demand from enterprise customers and partners around the world. Mike Coney joins Ingres as executive vice president of
Worldwide Sales and Support, with Matt Vitale also joining the team as senior vice president, Americas. Reporting to Mr. Coney will be Andy Allbritten, senior vice president, Worldwide Support, who joined Ingres last month after serving in that position at PeopleSoft and Oracle where he ran a $1.2 billion revenue support organization.

"Our number one priority at Ingres is to support our existing community of 10,000 enterprise class customers and partners around the world," said Ingres Chairman and CEO, Terry Garnett. "Mike and Matt have a strong track record of building and managing global sales and support organizations which deliver the customer care and technical support that major enterprises and partners need. As the leading business open source software company, Ingres intends to lead the industry in customer satisfaction and successful database implementations, and this is the kind of team that can make our business model successful."

Previously, Mr. Coney was senior vice president of Americas Sales at VERITAS Software, where he grew the company's revenue from $30 million to $1 billion. During Mr. Coney's tenure, VERITAS' sales and service team grew to more than 800 employees. He also established VERITAS' vertical accounts programs for Public Sector, Telecommunications, Financial Services and Global Accounts. Previously, Mr. Coney held executive sales positions at Sun Microsystems where he most recently managed a $120 million revenue sales team focused on a major U.S. intelligence agency. During his 11-year career at Sun, Mr. Coney also led sales teams in the commercial and government sector.

"This is an exciting time for Ingres and I am thrilled to be joining at this critical juncture," Mr. Coney said. "With the financial backing of CA and Garnett & Helfrich Capital, Ingres' world class database technology, and the emerging business open source business model, we have a significantly better alternative to the 'closed source' database suppliers in this $10 billion marketplace."

Joining Mr. Coney's executive sales team, Mr. Vitale brings more than 25 years of sales and marketing experience to Ingres. He also spent 8 years with VERITAS Software, where he served as a regional vice president of the South Central Region and Eastern Region and was responsible for the largest sales organization in the Americas-generating $232 million in revenue. Previously, he held sales management and technical marketing positions at IBM for more than ten years in the areas of UNIX and high performance systems and lead sales teams in aerospace, manufacturing, telecommunications and public sector verticals.
