Information Operations, Open Source Intelligence, and Peacekeeping Intelligence a New $5 Billion a Year Marketplace
1 January 1970 Robert David Steele Vivas, CEO of OSS.Net, Inc., a Virginia C Corporation, announced today that on the basis of all of the contracts being let by governments and selected corporations, he believes there is now a new marketplace for integrated information sources, softwares, and services that is called the Information Operations marketplace, and is worth $5 billion a year.
"The U.S. Governments spends $70 billion a year on secret intelligence," Steele says, "while finding that over 40% of what it needs to know can be obtained from open sources of information at a cost of less than 1% of the total intelligence budget. This has led to a re-examination of priorities, and while the bureaucracies are still fighting, the Department of Defense is moving forward, and this is good news.
"Information Operations (IO) represents the new semantics of war & peace, wealth & democracy. Information Peacekeeping (IPK) is the converse of Information Warfare (IW). America is soon to have in effect a range of Joint Intelligence Operations Centers or Commands (JIOC) with embedded Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) feeds in all languages on all topics, and the requisite man-machine Foreign Language (FL) and Advanced Analytics (AA) able to make sense of all information, in all languages, all the time.
"Modern IO consists of Strategic Communications (the message), Open Source Intelligence (the shareable reality), and JIOCS with FL and AA (the technologies).
"Modern IO is the new American "way of war" and offers enormous potential in ten "IO-heavy" mission areas:
* Strategic Communication & Public Diplomacy * Peacekeeping Intelligence & Information Peacekeeping * Early Warning & Stabilization-Reconstruction Operations * Homeland Defense & Emergency Responder Civil Support * National Education & National Research for National Wealth
"A new conference will take place 17-20 January 2006 in Washington, D.C., and will bring together Congressman Rob Simmons (R-CT-02), Alvin & Heidi Toffler, and eighteen other international speakers, with perhaps 400-600 global military, law enforcement, business, and non-governmental specialists. Sixty exhibits are planned in all related information technology areas.
"Information Operations helps avoid conflict and create wealth that is stabilizing. It may well be the most important investment any Nation can make."
