GAX in Partnership with Fortuitous Technologies
1 January 1970GAX S.A., the Luxembourg new technologies company, announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Fortuitous Technologies Inc., of Austin, Texas (http://www.fortuitous.com). GAX will market and sell Fortuitous products and services in the European market.
Fortuitous specializes in offering services that focus on Clusters and High Availability, Planning and Linux Training and Security. In addition to Linux, Fortuitous supports a range of UNIX platforms including AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, IRIX and OSX. Its client list includes the Texas State Library, AMD, Dell and Qwest.
GAX will be working closely with Fortuitous Director of Performance Engineering, Dr. Dominique Heger, to develop a service offering for the European market. The initial focus will be in the areas of Performance Tuning, Capacity Planning and Cluster Services for Linux and UNIX systems.
Dr. Heger is a respected specialist in the fields of systems performance, cluster technology, performance modeling, algorithms and data structures, and I/O scalability and has published numerous papers on these subjects. Before joining Fortuitous Technologies, he worked at Hewlett-Packard and IBM and contributed to Performance Tuning for Linux Servers (IBM Press).
GAX Managing Director Alex Kampa stated: “Detailed capacity and performance planning still tends to be associated with mainframes. It is often done less thoroughly when setting up UNIX-based production systems, which typically results in overspending on hardware. We see a definite need for more planning and therefore very pleased to add these services to our portfolio.”
“Another service for which we see a clear demand is specialized clustering consultancy. This is especially true for small and medium-sized clusters in heterogeneous environments. We also plan to offer training programs in these areas.”
