FREE Enterprise Portal Released for Microsoft, Novell, Redhat, and Other Linux Distributions

1 January 1970

Lumen Software, a leader in Portal technology, announced the release of their Lumenation v6.0 Portal with unlimited User Licensing. The Portal can be downloaded from the company's website, http://www.lumensoftware.com. Organizations can immediately begin providing key information to users appropriately based upon who the user is and what role they play in the organization regardless of the underlying OS (Microsoft, Mac, Linux, Unix).

"We are very pleased to provide organizations worldwide with the first truly roles based Portal environment which encompasses exactly what users need, the ability to access key information anytime and from anywhere," commented Tad Gordon, CEO of Lumen Software. "The Company's goal is to provide Businesses, Education, (K-12 and Higher Education), and Government with a Portal that delivers secure access to virtually any electronic data source."

The Lumenation Portal is web based, allowing secure access from any computer with Internet access and a browser (Mozilla, Firefox, Microsoft IE, etc.). Users have access to manuals, tutorials and Forums directly from the Lumenation users support Portal designed to allow organizations to setup and administer the Portal minimizing implementation and operational costs. Lumen Software also offers a full range of services including complete turn key implementation or just fulfilling specific parts of the deployment process such as data integration.

"By utilizing Lumenation, organizations can immediately start managing content, applications, access legacy data, collaborate, and provide the appropriate content to the right person at the right time," commented Don Keeler, CTO of Lumen Software. "Lumenation is a mature product which has been tested in lab settings and through our client deployments for over three years. Lumenation's scalability and rapid deployment capabilities has proven to meet the needs of any size organization."

There are several features which set the Lumenation Portal apart from other Portals. One is its ability to be immediately deployed, requiring no development. The second feature is its patent pending user roles based processing. The system "knows" who a user is, what applications they have access to, what content they may access within an application, what files, even the users language. The system is also LDAP compliant, allowing the integration of directory services to authenticate and provision users. If you do not have a directory service, Lumenation inherently provides all the necessary user management tools. Organizations are able to create multiple Portals on one server, or different servers to communicate to specific groups, locations and departments.

"In addition to the Portal, Lumen Software provides many ready-to-deploy applications an organization can download directly into their Portal. Many of these applications are free including RSS News Publishing, RSS News Client, Weather, etc.," commented Ted Lymer, CMO of Lumen. "This makes it convenient for organizations to select the applications which meet their varied needs. Lumen Software provides multiple levels of support to ensure user expectations are met or surpassed."
