Etnus TotalView Debugs Applications on IBM Linux on POWER Platform

1 January 1970

Etnus, the provider of the most advanced debugger on Linux and UNIX, today announced that TotalView is available for IBM Linux on POWER systems.

TotalView is an advanced 32- and 64-bit graphical debugger providing software engineers with complete control over threaded and parallel applications written in C, C++ or Fortran. Not your average debugger, TotalView also provides unique, proprietary memory debugging technology that neither instruments code nor alters libraries. TotalView's memory debugging features are fully integrated into the debugger. And, the user experience is enhanced by an on-demand, view-based approach that eliminates the need to wait for post-mortem style reports common in stand-alone memory tools.

"IBM Linux on POWER momentum continues to build as a growing list of solution providers like Etnus develop applications to serve the needs of our mutual clients," said Brian Connors, vice president of Linux on POWER, IBM Systems and Technology Group. "The deployment of Etnus technology on IBM systems demonstrates our commitment to work with leading partners to provide solutions that help enhance and protect client IT investments."

TotalView is immediately available for the first time on IBM Linux on POWER servers running SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9.0. "When software engineers move their code from one platform to the next, they don't want to have to learn a new debugger," describes Mary Kay Bunde, Director of Marketing at Etnus. "TotalView is available on most major Linux and UNIX platforms, easing ports of mission critical code from one platform to the next."

Long known for its superior ability to debug parallel and threaded code, TotalView offers the developer unrivaled ability to debug applications that use multithreading, MPI and OpenMP. Advanced features, such as heap allocation debugging, data analysis, and STLView for easy reading of standard template library data, provide unique capabilities to find and eliminate problems in complex applications.

TotalView is available for most major Linux and UNIX platforms, with prices starting under $600.
