Enterprise Grid Software Leader Univa Adds IT Veterans to Executive Team
1 January 1970 Univa Corporation, the leading provider of commercial software and professional services for open source Globus(R) software, today announced the appointment of two executives to new company positions. Kathy Tucker joins as vice president, Engineering and Scott Takaoka as vice president, Business Development. Tucker and Takaoka together bring more than 30 years of enterprise software experience to Univa. "As we begin rolling out our first release of Univa Globus Enterprise software, we're also building out the executive team that will help us get to the next level with enterprise partnerships and products, and make our customers even more successful in building enterprise Grids," said Steve Tuecke, CEO of Univa. Tucker comes to Univa from OpenTV where she served as vice president of Platform Development and was responsible for strategic direction, design, development, services, and global quality assurance. Prior to OpenTV, Tucker served as senior vice president with Platinum Technology where she led a $120 million global software operation. She holds a BS in Operations and Computer Science from Northern Illinois University. "With the solid foundation of the Globus Toolkit as a launching pad, I believe that Univa will be the company to deliver useable and ubiquitous Grid infrastructure to commercial and industrial vertical markets," Tucker said. Takaoka joins Univa from DecisionPoint Software where he served as director of Business Development and was instrumental in establishing strategic partnerships with leading business intelligence software vendors. Prior to DecisionPoint Software, Takaoka ran platform alliances for CrossWorlds Software and held sales and business development positions in the federal government sales team for Silicon Graphics where he was responsible for desktop workstation revenue for Asia-Pacific. Takaoka also worked in marketing and sales for IBM. He holds a BA in Political Science and Rhetoric from the University of California at Davis.
