Empower Technologies(TM) Announces the First LEOs Operating Software Licensing Deal
1 January 1970 Empower Technologies ("Empower") is very pleased to announce that it has signed the first LEOs ("LinuxDA Embedded Operating System") operating software licensing agreement, a supply agreement and a software development agreement with an undisclosed customer (the "Customer") on the US west coast. Due to the extremely competitive nature of their fast growing industry, the Customer has requested that Empower to keep their identity and business in strict confidence. Empower previously launched the LDK5910 Development Kit jointly with Texas Instruments in August 2005 and began shipping the kits to customers in September 2005. Since the introduction of the LDK5910, Empower has earned its first LEOs licensee in only 9 months. Under normal market conditions, it can take a minimum of 8 months to as long as 18 months for any new software development platform to work through the sales cycle to reach a licensing agreement. With this design win, Empower's sales and marketing team will continue striving for licensing agreements with the other early LEOs adopters that are close to entering the manufacturing stage with their developments. At the same time will continue to increase the LEOs operating software and LDK591x development kits penetration into the world's largest Consumer Electronics Original Design Manufacturer, Original Equipment Manufacturer, and Contract Manufacturer located in the Pearl River Delta region in China. "I am pleased to say that LEOs has successfully been commercialized. The LEOs operating system is stable, robust and flexible and offers licensees advantages over the other embedded operating systems available in the marketplace. With these innovative LEOs solutions, we can compete with the majors on a global scale basis. Our focus now is to increase penetration, adoption and licensing of LEOs by Consumer Electronic manufacturers and developers worldwide with special attention to Asia/Pacific." Said Dr. K. T. Ma, Chief Operating Officer of Empower Technologies. "This is fantastic news for Empower. The LDK5910 is performing as successfully as we had expected and this design win is confirmed that LEOs stands up to the challenge as a proven Linux-based embedded operating software development suite. We expect other exciting design win to follow in the months ahead." Said Paul Leung, Chairman, President and CEO of Empower Technologies. Empower will release more details as they are made available.
