Embedded Planet Acquires MCC Systems

1 January 1970

Cleveland, OH and Hudson, NH (PRWEB) April 3, 2006 -- Embedded Planet, a leading supplier of single board computers and embedded systems products and pioneer of the Design, Develop, Deploy methodology today announced that it has acquired MCC Systems a recognized leader in embedded systems training, consulting, and software development.

With the acquisition, the MCC Systems staff will form the Professional Services Division of Embedded Planet. Mike McCullough, CEO and President of MCC Systems, will be the Director of the newly formed division. The Professional Services Division will provide custom software development and training for embedded systems as well as lead the development effort for The Right Tool, a customizable Eclipse-based programming, management and configuration tool for embedded systems.

«With the increasing complexity of embedded systems software and the rapid adoption of Linux in the embedded systems community, our customers have been asking us to provide a broader set of system solutions and capabilities,» said Mark Lowdermilk, CEO of Embedded Planet. «The acquisition of MCC Systems allows us to quickly address these requests with experienced, talented people who are experts in the field of embedded systems and we are pleased to be working together.»

Embedded Planet, founded in 1997, offers a broad range of single board computers featuring processors from Freescale, AMCC, and Intel and in form factors ranging from credit card sized to Advanced Mezzanine Cards (AMC). The boards are supported by custom firmware suites and several embedded operating systems ensuring that the customer can find a combination to fit their needs. The integrated hardware and software systems accelerate time-to-market for OEMs in the networking, military, industrial, and medical markets.

«The combination of Embedded Planet and MCC Systems allows us to deliver more value to our customers,» said Mike McCullough. «We can now apply our software development across a broader set of hardware platforms and architectures with earlier access to silicon and our customers will see this benefit in all of our products and services.»

MCC Systems was founded by Mike McCullough in 2002 to provide training, consulting, and development tools for embedded systems providers. The company's expertise includes VxWorks and Embedded Linux development on multiple hardware architectures, Eclipse and .Net tools development, and application experience in military/aerospace, networking, and industrial sectors. The company offers a full slate of embedded software training courses that can be easily customized to meet specific customer requirements.

«I am very excited to be able to delivery a complete turnkey solution to our customers covering both hardware and software,» said Matt Hoover, VP Sales and Marketing of Embedded Planet. «When customers want training, software development, hardware design, system integration or a complete turnkey solution, we can deliver. We can also create a complete customized Eclipse based environment for the OEM to manage and maintain their systems using The Right Tool.»

Embedded Planet Professional Services can train a customer on a PowerPC or Xscale processor using Linux or VxWorks and provide the customer with a complete kit after the training. This kit includes the Linux software, firmware, examples and the single board computer, allowing customers to quickly use the knowledge gained during the training. The Professional Services group can also provide complete turnkey customization for any hardware or software project helping OEMs get to market quickly.
