DM SOLUTIONS GROUP LAUNCHES NEW OPEN SOURCE PROJECT FOR INTERACTIVE ONLINE MAPPING
1 January 1970DM Solutions Group, a leading provider of smart online mapping solutions and developer of open source MapTools technologies today announced the launch of a new open source online mapping project that will provide a more interactive and continuous user experience in future online mapping applications. DM Solutions Group plans to include the new capabilities from this MapTools project in its custom client solutions and in future products and services.
The new MapTools project – ka-Map is being developed to work with MapServer technology, a powerful and flexible development environment for creating online mapping applications. It has been designed to easily integrate with other software packages in the future allowing users to access map data from many sources. Most importantly, the new capabilities take advantage of the rich continuous user environment now available in all modern browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer.
As a result of this important technical advancement, DM Solutions Group will be able to deliver to clients a new generation of smart online mapping solutions that will include the user interaction and response typically only found in desktop applications or browser plug-ins.

The MapServer community and others interested in this new capability will be able to leverage and contribute to this technology through a new Open Source MapTools project, ka-Map. A preliminary developers version is available on MapTools.org at http://ka-map.maptools.org.
