Cassatt Brings Unique Automation and Virtualization Solution to Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server

1 January 1970

Cassatt(R) Corporation, an innovator in providing enterprise software and services to enable agile IT infrastructures, today announced that it has teamed with Novell to deliver a unique combination of automation and virtualization tools to enterprise customers running Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server in their data centers.

By supporting SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and related applications, Cassatt now helps IT departments to deploy SUSE Linux Enterprise Server as a key data center platform. As a result, customers can minimize their hardware and software expenditures through server consolidation, while drastically reducing operational costs and downtime.

The Cassatt solution creates a virtual pool of an organization's application resources -- hardware, operating systems, and Java middleware -- making them available for use by all applications. Then, the Cassatt software automatically and continuously matches applications to appropriate computing resources, in order to maintain the service levels that the business requires of each critical application, all without human intervention.

"We see Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server in data centers around the globe, powering some of the most comprehensive and functionally complex application infrastructures that we encounter," said Gamiel Gran, vice president of worldwide channels and alliances at Cassatt. "But often, due to the static nature of today's infrastructure, enterprise IT environments have as much as 90 percent of their hardware and software resources sitting idle. By deploying Cassatt Collage(TM) with Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, customers can dramatically cut costs by increasing utilization of both hardware and software."

"Customers today require advanced tools to manage their infrastructure," said Hal Bennett, Novell vice president of global partners and programs. "Novell's Linux and open source market leadership, combined with Cassatt's ability to deliver service level automation, helps provide our customers with a reliable, scalable, high-performance platform with lower management costs."

Availability

Cassatt Collage version 3 with support for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server is scheduled for general availability in summer 2006.
