American Arium, Jungo Launch New Linux OS Board Development Kit
1 January 1970American Arium and Jungo Ltd. today jointly introduced the LC-500MJ Development Kit. Designed to support the Intel® IXDPG425 network gateway reference platform, the kit includes Jungo OpenRG™ software (evaluation version) and the American Arium LC-500 hardware-assisted debug solution (90 day evaluation license). The kit offers developers a fast, easy, and reliable way to develop a network board prototype targeting a wide range of applications including wireless residential gateways with network attached storage and print server capability, security solutions providing VPN termination, power management, reporting mechanism support, and voice over IP (VOIP) solutions for the small office. Four voice channels are available on the reference design.
Jeff Acampora, Arium vice president, Sales & Marketing, noted, "The kit provides validated software and hardware for a positive initial out-of-box experience. It eliminates the time and frustration of purchasing and validating tools from multiple vendors, only to find they don't work together. This is absolutely the fastest way to evaluate and modify a reference design based on the Intel® IXP425 processor, Linux, and Jungo OpenRG."
Arium's debug solution for the kit includes the run control LC-500 JTAG emulator and flagship SourcePoint™ software interface. Linux OS support includes full symbolic, source-level debugging of kernel and Linux applications in an elegant and intuitive GUI environment. The tool set offers what no other debug solution can: relocatable and dynamically-loaded kernel module debugging and debug on initial target bring-up from board reset.
The kit also comes with Jungo OpenRG. OpenRG features optimized Linux distribution, a firewall, VPN (Virtual Private Networking), voice delivery services, Wireless Security 802.1x WPA, remote and local management, file server for storage devices and print servers, support for cable home-based devices, and patent pending plug-and-play home networking.
"This new kit from Jungo and Arium, based on Intel's IXDPG425 network gateway reference platform, provides OEMs with all the hardware, software, and documentation information needed to easily bring to market high-performance, next generation business gateways," said Udi Yuhjtman, vice president of Operations and Business Development, Jungo Ltd. "This kit will help to reduce overall development time and significantly increase an OEM's ability to get data, security, and voice communications products to market faster."
Key features of the LC-500MJ Development Kit include:
1. Feature-rich, validated software and hardware for a positive initial out-of-box experience on a Linux platform. 2. Fast and simple installation and configuration for system bring-up in less than a day. 3. A smooth, reliable evaluation experience.
Specific items in the LC-500MJ kit include the Arium LC-500 JTAG emulator and SourcePoint debugger, Jungo OpenRG, power supplies, cables, and documentation. The LC-500MJ Development Kit is available now through American Arium. The price is $1,800 USD. Intel also sells the kit, complete with the Intel IXDPG425 network gateway reference platform. The board includes the Intel® IXP425 network processor at 533 MHz, up to 128 MB SDRAM, 32 MB Flash, 10/100 Ethernet and Utopia 2 mezzanine card connection, two MiniPCI Type III slots (32-bit, 33 MHz), four POTS FXS telephone ports with PSTN failover, USB ports, a RS-232 port, and wireless capability. The Intel part number is IXP4XXDEBUG.
