American Arium Delivers Freescale i.MX21 Multimedia Processor Bring-Up Kit for the Linux Market
1 January 1970 Easy-to-read documentation taking users through code changes and rebuild. Included with the kit is Arium's SourcePoint™ debugging software. The debugger interface is part of the company's core technology, developed specifically for SoC embedded software design and debug. The 32-bit application runs on Microsoft® 2000/XP and Linux hosts. With the hardware and software, Arium offers a Linux OS-aware debug solution that delivers full symbolic, source-level debugging of Linux kernel code and applications, including loadable kernel modules and shared libraries. Users can launch or attach to processes with seamless transitions to and from the kernel and each process. In addition, developers can debug code on initial target bring-up immediately from board reset and host Linux console devices from within SourcePoint, eliminating the need for a serial port or video device on the target and simplifying the debugging of "headless systems." Freescale's i.MX family of applications processors are used extensively in the portable handheld market. The i.MX21 processor features high levels of video and graphics capabilities, plug-and-play connectivity and added power management capabilities. Designed for use in portable media players, video IP phones, wireless PDAs, and many other mobile wireless applications, the i.MX21 multimedia applications processor is architected with Smart Speed technology, an intelligent integrative approach that uses hardware accelerators to offload the CPU, and a crossbar switch to bring parallelism to the system. "The Linux operating system continues to expand across a wide spectrum of applications and markets. As a result, Freescale's community of customers is growing and demanding robust, quality development tools for both host and target sides. American Arium provides this level of feature-rich tools for the development of flexible, media-centric solutions," said Monica Hamilton, director of wireless developer relations for Freescale. The LC-500MX21 Linux Development Kit includes Arium SourcePoint software (Linux hosted), the LC-500 JTAG emulator, the Freescale i.MX21 application development system board, GNU toolchain, power supplies, cables, and documentation.
