.com Solutions Inc Releases FmPro Migrator 3.02 Enterprise Edition

1 January 1970

.com Solutions Inc. Releases FmPro Migrator 3.02 Enterprise Edition - New Release for MacOS X and Windows Adds Drag and Drop Conversion of Access 2003 Database Files to FileMaker 7.

.com Solutions Inc., a developer of multi-platform database migration and development tools, has released FmPro Migrator 3.02 with a new Microsoft Access 2003 to FileMaker 7 migration feature for MacOS X and Windows.

FmPro Migrator 3.02 now employs a new drag and drop user interface for Access to FileMaker 7 migrations on MacOS X and Windows, thus simplifying the migration process. Dropping one or more Access 97, Access 2000 or Access 2003 database files onto FmPro Migrator instantly reads the metadata from each Access database file and creates the required FileMaker 7 migration scripts.

FmPro Migrator standardizes and automates FileMaker database migration procedures including data type matching, field to column renaming, table creation, FileMaker field size determination and data transfer for 8 different database servers. Supported databases include MySQL, Oracle (8, 8i-9i, 10g), Access, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2, PostgreSQL and FrontBase.

FmPro Migrator New Features and Improvements include:

-- Access 2003 to FileMaker 7 Migration on MacOS X and Windows - Access 97, Access 2000 and Access 2003 database files can be dropped onto FmPro Migrator to start the migration process. FmPro Migrator reads the metadata from each Access database file. The resulting migration scripts are instantly generated and written into the user selected output directory. These scripts still need to be run on Windows (or VirtualPC) in order to utilize FileMaker 7 and Access ODBC drivers which are currently only available on Windows.

-- Upsize Microsoft Access to FileMaker 7 - Converting Access to FileMaker 7 enables developers to take advantage of the enhanced performance and capabilities of FileMaker 7. FileMaker 7 databases can handle up to 8TB of data and can include thousands of fields, compared to the 2Gb file size limit and 255 field limit of Microsoft Access.

-- Various Maintenance Fixes Included - FmPro Migrator 3.02 also includes a variety of other maintenance fixes to migration scripts and documentation. These improvements include the use of FileMaker 7 Username/Password info within generated scripts for all database migrations along with improvements to the SQL Server instructions.

-- MacOS X and Windows Compatibility - FmPro Migrator runs on MacOS X and Windows, thus enabling developers to use their preferred platform for creating the migration scripts.

A functional demo version of FmPro Migrator may be downloaded from www.fmpromigrator.com/downloads/index.html. For more info please see: www.fmpromigrator.com/products/fmpro_migrator
